|From the palms to the glaciers in less than one hour: Garda and Trentino|
Lake Garda is the largest lake in the PreAlps area and Italy. Its banks border three regions: Lombardy, Veneto and South Tyrol-Trentino.
Its beautiful landscape and the mild climate with Mediterranean plants (vine yards, olive groves and lemon trees) make the area around lake Garda a favourite tourist destination.
The most renowned part is the so called Riviera Bresciana between Salò and Gargnano, scattered with villa, gardens, parks, hotels and health-resort stations like Salò, Gardone Riviera, Fasano and Maderno. The most important place on the southern bank is Desenzano, together with the fascinating strip of land of Sirmione, an international renown thermal resort (see map of thermal resorts). On the Verona bank is the theme park Gardaland renown in all Europe as well as a number of popular resorts like Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, Punta S. Vigilio, Torri del Benaco and Malcesine. In the North, on the side of South Tyrol-Trentino, are the health-resort stations of Riva, Torbole, Malcesine and Limone with high-rise hotels.
